Create a Host Group for each site in the vSAN stretched cluster. Each Host Group includes a set of ESXi hosts that are part of the vSAN stretched cluster.

Each site in the vSAN stretched cluster requires its own Host Group with a dedicated set of ESXi hosts.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. In vCenter Server, select the vSphere Cluster object where Supervisor is enabled.
  2. Select Configure > Configuration > VM/Host Groups > Add.
  3. Configure the first Host Group.
    1. Name: Enter the name for the host group, such as: site1-HostGroup
    2. Type: Select Host Group from the menu
    3. Members: Click Add and select each ESXi host comprising site 1
    4. Click OK to add the hosts to the group
  4. Repeat the process for the second Host Group.
    1. Name: site2-HostGroup
    2. Type: Host Group
    3. Members: Each ESXi host comprising site 2
